When Ebony Has to Apologize to Flawless
Flawless sat at the café, stirring her tea slowly, her mind replaying everything that had happened. She wasn’t one to hold grudges, but some things cut deep. And what Ebony had done? That was one of them.
It had started as a small misunderstanding, but pride and emotions had turned it into something bigger than it needed to be. Ebony had said things she shouldn’t have, words meant to sting, meant to tear down instead of build up. Flawless, always the strong one, had walked away instead of engaging in the negativity. But that didn’t mean it hadn’t hurt.
Now, Ebony was on her way to meet her, heart pounding in her chest. She knew she had been wrong, and more importantly, she knew what she had to do. The thing was, apologies weren’t easy for her. Pride was a powerful thing, and admitting she had messed up? That was something she wasn’t used to.
But God had been working on her heart.
She had spent the night tossing and turning, conviction sitting heavy on her spirit. She had prayed about it, and clear as day, she heard it: Go make it right.
So here she was, walking into the café, spotting Flawless at the table. The moment Flawless looked up and their eyes met, Ebony exhaled.
“Hey,” she said, sitting down across from her.
Flawless raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. She was waiting.
Ebony took a deep breath. “Look… I was wrong.” She didn’t sugarcoat it. She didn’t try to justify it. “I let my pride get in the way, and I said things I shouldn’t have. I hurt you, and that ain’t what real friends do.”
Flawless watched her for a moment, then set her cup down. “Ebony…” she sighed, shaking her head. “Why did it take you so long?”
Ebony chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of her neck. “Because I’m stubborn. ”
Flawless smirked. “Yeah, I know.”
Silence hung between them for a beat, and then Flawless leaned forward. “You know I forgive you, right?”
Ebony looked up, eyes filled with relief. “For real?”
Flawless nodded. “Of course. But just know—I ain’t one of these people out here you can just treat any kind of way and think a quick ‘sorry’ fixes everything.”
Ebony grinned. “I know, I know. I promise I’ll do better.”
Flawless studied her for a second before nodding. “Good.”
And just like that, the weight lifted.
See, when you walk with God, you learn that pride has no place where love exists. Real friendships require humility, honesty, and the willingness to make things right. Ebony had learned that lesson the hard way, but she was grateful.
Because Jesus had been working on her heart. And Jesus been poppin’ .
