Seesaw of Love
Joslyn and Rafi had always been opposites—she was all sunshine and laughter, while he was steady and reserved. But when they sat on the old seesaw at the country fair, something about that moment felt different.
The fairgrounds were alive with music and laughter, the smell of kettle corn and barbecue filling the air. Children ran past them, their giggles blending with the soft country tunes playing from a nearby stage. Joslyn, in her cowboy boots and floral dress, kicked her feet playfully as the seesaw lifted her up.
“You ever think love is like a seesaw?” she mused.
Rafi, sitting across from her in his worn jeans and plaid shirt, raised an eyebrow. “How so?”
She smiled. “It only works if both people stay in it together. One person jumps off too soon, and the other hits the ground hard.”
Rafi let her words settle, watching her eyes dance with the reflection of carnival lights. “So what happens when life gets heavy?” he asked.
Joslyn shrugged. “You hold on and trust the other person won’t leave you hanging.”
The moment stretched between them, quiet but full. Rafi reached across, his rough hand covering hers. “Then I guess I’ll just have to hold on tight. ”
The country fair buzzed around them, but for Joslyn and Rafi, the world had slowed. The seesaw of love was set in motion, and neither planned on jumping off.
