Don’t be cheating either,” she warned playfully.

“I’m not cheating.”

“Oh no,” she teased, narrowing her eyes. “Okay. I know how the light scans are.”

“Wow, that…”

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about the men.”

“Oh, so fading,” she replied, a little dramatically. “Let’s see, let’s see…”

“I don’t think you’re supposed to take that long to decide either.”

“Just be quiet,” she said, rolling her eyes. Then she smiled softly. “Baby, I like being at home, just doing simple things like this with you.”

“Yeah, it’s fun, right?”

“Mhm. I think when you’re younger, you want to just go out on dates every night, drink and party. But once you settle down and have a family, it’s really about cooking at home, playing board games, being with our son.”

“Yeah,” he nodded. “Life is different, but I definitely love…”

“It’s my favorite part of life,” she said.

He looked at her for a moment, his tone shifting. “Let me ask you something… Would you ever deliberately… or, well, intentionally do anything to break my heart?”

“What?” she asked, a bit taken aback. “What are you talking about?”

“No, I’m just saying, like… everything’s good right now. We’re playing board games, our beautiful son’s in the other room, everything’s going smooth. But… you know, things change.”

He hesitated, then added, “I mean, not for nothing—even though you didn’t intentionally mean to do it—but… you broke Arby’s heart. You didn’t mean to do it, but… I’m just saying, y’all had good times too.”

“Yeah, but it was different, Anthony,” she said gently. “When I look at you, I see the love of my whole life. I really have felt that way about you since the first time I saw you, so… it’s a different vibe.

She paused, eyes sincere. “I don’t know how to explain how strong my feelings are for you. It’s just different. I would never intentionally, deliberately hurt you. You are the man of my dreams, the father of my son. I feel like our love is a lot deeper than anything on the surface. So no, I would never hurt you.”

He nodded, slowly. “Yeah. I hear you, but… even though I’ve turned into the man I am, and I’m successful… I’ve had my heart broken a lot of times.”

“I get that,” she said softly.

“And then, I mean, look at you and I. We’ve hurt a lot of people, too.”

“Yeah,” she agreed. “We’ve been on both sides of the fence. But I wake up every day, and I choose you. I choose our family. And that’s what I’m going to choose for the rest of my life. Okay? I love you. I would never hurt you. You mean a lot to me.”

“Do you believe it?” she asked.

“I believe it.”

“Okay, you feel better now?

“Yeah,” he said with a small smile. “I’m still about to whoop you.”

“No, you’re not. You’re definitely not.”

“I don’t even think it was your turn,” he said, raising an eyebrow.

“It was definitely mine. You probably went twice.”

“Okay, well, hurry up.

“Boom,” she said, slamming her piece down.

“Talking about would I hurt you… I’m gonna hurt you—”

“You gonna what?” she said, smirking.

“Wait, I thought—”

“You gonna what?” she repeated, daring him to say it again.
