Shayla stood by the window, staring outside, her eyes filling with tears. A storm of questions circled in her heart—“Does Anthony really trust my love? Or am I just a shadow of doubt in his world?”
The room was quiet, only the ticking of the clock echoed. Suddenly, Iman walked in. His face was calm but serious, his eyes holding the weight of truth.
Iman: “Shayla, you need to let Anthony take the DNA test. If you have nothing to hide, then what are you so afraid of?”
Shayla turned her face away, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Shayla: “Don’t you understand? This test isn’t just a piece of paper… it’s my entire life, my dignity, and my mother’s dreams. Why can’t Anthony just trust me?”
At that moment, Anthony entered the room. His footsteps were heavy, his expression tense, like a storm was raging inside him.
Anthony: “Shayla, all I want is the truth! I deserve to know if Kai is really my son. Do you think I’m doing this for no reason? Why would I risk everything—my life, my name, my peace—if I didn’t feel this doubt eating me alive?”
Shayla’s heart shattered into a thousand pieces. She looked at Anthony, her eyes red from crying.
Shayla: “You’re breaking my soul. I gave you everything—my love, my loyalty, my devotion. And now you want to measure all of that with just a test? Was every moment we spent together, every sacrifice I made, all a lie to you?”
Her knees gave out, and she sank to the floor, covering her face with her hands.
Iman stood in between them, his voice steady but heavy with truth.
Iman: “If I were in your shoes, maybe I’d ask for a test too. And Shayla, if I were in your place, I’d take it just to end the doubts. But listen to me—if you two can’t trust each other, no piece of paper will ever save this relationship.”
Anthony’s eyes welled up. He walked closer to Shayla, reaching out to wipe her tears, but Shayla pulled her hand away.
Shayla: “To you, I’m nothing more than a DNA report, Anthony. My love, my loyalty, my honesty—they mean nothing to you. If all you need is proof on paper, then maybe my love was never enough for you in the first place.”
The room was drowning in sorrow.
From the doorway, Angelina’s voice suddenly broke the silence. She had overheard everything.
Angelina: “Do you even realize what you’re doing? Shayla has stood by you through everything, and now you’re making her prove her love with a test? Are you so weak that you can’t even trust the woman who gave you her whole heart?”
Anthony froze. His face went blank, his guilt and doubt crashing against each other.
Shayla slowly stood up, wiping her tears. She looked directly at Anthony.
Shayla: “Fine. I’ll take the test. But remember this—if that test proves me right, you won’t just lose your doubts… you’ll lose me forever.”
A heavy silence filled the room. Anthony lowered his head, his chest tightening with regret. Iman exhaled deeply, while Angelina rushed to hold Shayla in her arms.
To the outside world, it was just a DNA test.
But for Shayla, it was the test of her dignity, her love, her very soul.
And for Anthony—it was the test of whether he trusted his hea
rt, or only the cold truth written on paper.
