Bethany & Larry Confront Sharra - Dark Theme

INT. LIVING ROOM – MORNING

The sunlight streams through the blinds, casting sharp lines across the room. Bethany storms in, her heels clicking against the wooden floor, her eyes blazing with anger.

BETHANY

Did you give Sharra a car?

LARRY

(shaking his head) I didn’t buy her anything.

Bethany takes a step closer, fists clenched.

BETHANY

Then why does she have everything she asks for? Why does she always get her way while I… I struggle to get a word in?

LARRY

Bethany, you know that’s not true. You’re overreacting.

INT. LIVING ROOM – CONTINUOUS ARGUMENT

BETHANY

Overreacting?! Larry, you think I don’t see it? You co-signed for a year with her, you’re always bending over backwards! And now a car? A car?

LARRY

Bethany, calm down. I said I didn’t buy her anything.

BETHANY

(tearing up) You think saying that makes it okay? Every time she smiles, every time she gets something, I feel invisible!

INT. LIVING ROOM – CALLING SHARRA

Larry grabs his phone, hesitating, but dials Sharra’s number. Bethany paces, watching anxiously.

SHARRA

Hello?

LARRY

Sharra, it’s Larry. Bethany wants you to apologize for what you said yesterday.

SHARRA

Apologize? For what? That she’s… what, insecure?

LARRY

(firmly) For body-shaming her. That’s what.

SHARRA

(sarcastic) Oh, that. Well, Bethany’s so sensitive, I didn’t think she’d take it this seriously.

LARRY

Enough. Just apologize.

SHARRA

Fine, Bethany. I’m sorry. Happy now?

INT. LIVING ROOM – RELIEF AND CONFRONTATION

BETHANY

(angry, but relieved) Finally. I can’t believe I have to make her apologize for even existing…

LARRY

I know, Bethany. I know. But you handled it. You spoke up for yourself.

BETHANY

(quietly) I just… I just want to feel like I matter, Larry.

LARRY

You matter, Bethany. More than you’ll ever know.

She leans into him, letting out a shaky breath. Larry wraps his arms around her, holding her tight.

EXT. LARRY’S HOUSE – DAY

The camera pans out as Bethany and Larry stand by the window, sunlight catching the tension slowly fading from Bethany’s face. Outside, the world carries on, but inside, a battle has been fought—and won, at least for now.

BETHANY (V.O.)

Sometimes, you have to fight for yourself. Even when the people who are supposed to protect you… don’t.

The wind rustles through the trees as Bethany and Larry look out, silently acknowledging the battles still ahead. FADE OUT.
