Something Feels Wrong
Bethany’s car slowed as it turned into the quiet, upscale neighborhood, the kind where secrets looked elegant from the outside and rotten from within. Sharra’s new house stood tall and pristine, its white walls glowing under the afternoon sun—too perfect, too clean, like a lie wrapped in luxury.
Bethany stepped out, her heart already racing, an unexplainable heaviness settling in her chest. Something felt wrong. Deeply wrong.
The Scene Inside
As she walked toward the front door, voices floated through the open entryway. Laughter. Low murmurs. Familiar tones. Bethany stopped mid-step.
Inside the living room, Larry stood near the window, Brooke beside him, and Sharra just a little too close. They looked comfortable—too comfortable—talking in hushed tones like people who shared something they didn’t want the world to hear.
Then it happened.
Larry’s voice rose just enough.
LARRY ๐
“I told you, Sharra… the $650 wasn’t supposed to turn into this.”
The Moment of Truth
The words slammed into Bethany like a bullet.
Her breath caught. Her vision blurred. The room spun as if the ground beneath her heels had shifted. $650. The number echoed in her mind, colliding with every unanswered question she had buried deep inside herself.
She stepped forward.
The sound of her heels against the floor cut through the room like thunder.
Everyone froze.
SHARRA ๐จ
“Bethany… you’re here…”

BETHANY ๐ณ
“$650…?”
Her voice was barely above a whisper, but it carried the weight of betrayal.
LARRY ๐
“Bethany… I was going to tell you.”
Bethany let out a hollow laugh, the kind that comes when the heart cracks but refuses to bleed yet.
BETHANY ๐ค
“Like the TV, Larry? Or was that something you were ‘going to tell me’ too?”
Words of Hurt
SHARRA ๐
“Bethany, please… this isn’t how it sounds.”
Bethany turned slowly toward her, her stare sharp enough to cut glass.
BETHANY ๐ก
“Then explain it. Because from where I’m standing, it sounds like three people standing together—talking about money—behind my back.”
Larry took a step forward.
LARRY ๐
“I didn’t hide it to hurt you.”
Bethany snapped her head back to him, disbelief flashing across her face.
BETHANY ๐
“You didn’t hide it to hurt me? Larry, you hid it because you knew it would.”
The Heartbreaking Truth
BROOKE ๐ข
“Bethany… we didn’t mean for it to come out like this.”
Bethany’s laugh this time was sharper, edged with pain.
BETHANY ๐
“Come out like this? I wasn’t supposed to hear it at all, was I?”
Sharra’s voice trembled.
SHARRA ๐
“I asked him not to say anything… I didn’t want you to misunderstand.”
Breaking Free
Bethany stepped closer, her presence commanding, unstoppable.
