ARRIVAL AND UNEASE
The sun hung low over Montana, golden streaks casting shadows across rugged terrain. Larry drove tense, gripping the wheel. Beside him, Bethany’s eyes scanned the horizon, anticipation, suspicion, and simmering anger in her gaze.
They stepped out. Bethany’s boots crunched gravel as she moved toward the house. Larry followed, unaware the calm would shatter in moments.
THE UNEXPECTED GUEST
Bethany’s gaze landed on Greg. He wasn’t supposed to be here. Her stomach dropped. Fury surged.
BETHANY π‘: Greg… what are you doing here? What are you even doing here?!
Greg froze, eyes wide, hands raised defensively.
GREG π³: Bethany… I—I was invited… I thought—
BETHANY π€: You thought?! You thought it was okay to just show up in Montana?! Are you serious?
Bethany advanced, fists trembling. She swung at him, a cinematic moment frozen in time.
LARRY π¨: Bethany, wait! Stop!
LYNETTE INTERVENES
The door slammed. Lynette appeared, expression unreadable, then hardened at the scene. Bethany stood over Greg, chest heaving, eyes blazing. Larry’s hands hovered helplessly.
LYNETTE π‘: Bethany… you hit Mary’s guest?! That’s enough! You need to leave. Now!
LYNETTE π€: Bethany… it’s better for everyone if you just go. I don’t want this to escalate.
Bethany’s anger collided with confusion and humiliation. Slowly, reluctantly, she stepped back.
BETHANY π: Fine… I’m going… but this isn’t over.
AFTERMATH
Bethany turned toward the driveway. Larry followed quietly, knowing words would only ignite her further. The wind picked up, carrying faint voices from inside. Greg was shaken but unharmed. Lynette stood framed in the doorway, arms crossed.
LARRY π: Bethany… are you okay?
BETHANY π€: No… I’m not okay. I can’t believe he was here. And… and I lost control.
LARRY π: You can’t fix everyone’s mistakes… Bethany. But you can control your next move. Let’s just get out of here before this gets worse.
Bethany glanced at Lynette one last time, swallowing hard. The confrontation ended, but the weight lingered like fog.
BETHANY π: Yeah… you’re right. But… she made me leave like a child. That stings more than anything.
Larry started the engine, the rumble breaking silence. They pulled away. Mountains stretched endlessly. Bethany replayed every moment—the swing, Lynette’s command, Greg’s surprise. Sunset gave way to creeping night.
REFLECTION
Bethany’s anger faded into regret, tears threatening. Larry’s gaze was soft but firm. Montana had witnessed a storm, a human one, and some questions remained unresolved.
BETHANY π’: I can’t believe it… I let my anger control me. And now… now I’m the one walking away.
LARRY π: You’re human, Bethany. This… this doesn’t define you. But Montana will never forget tonight.
The house stood silent in the distance, shadows clinging to the walls. Some fights were necessary, some anger inevitable. But some departures left more questions than answers. The mountains loomed eternal, silent witnesses.
A question lingered in the air, heavy and unresolved: What would Bethany do next… when her fury met the world again? π₯
