That’s when Brooke walked in.
Scene 1 — The Calm Before the Threat
Brooke didn’t say anything at first. She grabbed juice from the fridge, leaned against the counter, and stared at Larry.
Larry glanced up. “Why you looking at me like that?”
Brooke smiled — slow, calculated.
“So… what exactly is a cosigner?”
Larry froze.
“What you mean?”
Brooke shrugged. “Just curious.”
Larry forced a laugh. “That’s grown folks business.”

Brooke took a sip of juice.

Larry frowned. “What you talking about?”

Larry’s head snapped up.
“What did you just say?”
Brooke tilted her head. “I’m just saying… secrets make people do things.”
Like marriages. Like houses. Like moving to Montana.
Larry slammed his phone down. “You been listening too much.”
Brooke smiled wider. “You been talking too much.”
Scene 3 — The Blackmail Reveal
Brooke walked closer.
“So here’s the thing, Dad… If Bethany finds out about that cosign—”
Larry moved fast, slamming the pantry door shut.
“Stop right there.”
Brooke didn’t flinch.
“She gonna flip,” Brooke continued. “Sharra gonna deny it. And you gonna be in another house… alone.”
Larry rubbed his temples. “You blackmailing me?”
“I prefer the word… compensation.”

Larry sighed. “What you want?”
Brooke didn’t hesitate.
“A car.”
Larry blinked. “A what?”
“A newer Kia,” Brooke clarified. “Don’t play with me.”
Larry laughed in disbelief. “You serious?”
Brooke crossed her arms. “I’m keeping a lot of secrets for my age.”
Larry muttered, “This house turning into a negotiation table.”
“Welcome to Skitland,” Brooke replied.
Scene 5 — Parenting vs Power
Larry’s voice softened. “You shouldn’t be doing this.”
Brooke shrugged. “Y’all don’t listen unless it hurts.”
Larry stared at her — seeing Bethany’s confidence… Sharra’s strategy… And something even sharper.
“You created this environment,” Brooke said quietly.
Larry exhaled. “You gonna snitch anyway, ain’t you?”
Brooke smiled. “Depends how fast that Kia come.”
Final Scene — Larry Is Surrounded
Larry walked toward the door.
“Don’t tell Bethany,” he said.
Brooke replied without looking up:
“Secrets cost extra.”
Larry shut the door hard.
Brooke smirked, texting on her phone.
Outside, Larry whispered to himself:
“I got married. Bought a house. Moved to Montana… And now I’m being blackmailed by my own child.”
