THE CALL
Larry stood alone on the porch, staring at the quiet street when his phone buzzed.
JADEN CALLING.
LARRY: Hey, son—
JADEN (V.O.): Dad, I’m gonna say this once. I need you to really hear me.
Something in Jaden’s voice made Larry straighten up.
THE RULES
JADEN (V.O.): You, Sharra, Brooke, Destiny—you’re welcome. But Bethany is not allowed in my house. Period.
Larry froze.
LARRY: What? Jaden, hold on—
JADEN (V.O.): No. I’m done holding my tongue.
NO MINIMIZING
LARRY: She’s your stepmom—
JADEN (V.O.): She’s nothing to me after what she did to Brooke.
LARRY: It was an argument—
JADEN (V.O.): Don’t minimize it.
The silence cut deeper than yelling.
BOUNDARIES
JADEN (V.O.): She disrespected my sister and tried to control something she has no authority over. I won’t allow that around my child.
LARRY: You’re asking me to come without my wife.
JADEN (V.O.): I’m telling you the rules of my house.
CONFRONTATION
Bethany appeared in the doorway, arms crossed.
BETHANY: Who you on the phone with?
JADEN (V.O.): I’m protecting my family, Dad. Something you should’ve done a long time ago.
That one hit hard.
BETHANY: Put it on speaker.
JADEN (V.O.): No need.
LINES DRAWN
BETHANY: You got something to say to me?
JADEN (V.O.): You are not welcome in my home.
BETHANY: I am your father’s wife.
JADEN (V.O.): And Brooke is my sister.
JADEN (V.O.): You hurt her. There are consequences.
BETHANY: So you’re choosing her over me?
JADEN (V.O.): Every time.
The call ended. Larry stood frozen, caught between loyalty and blood. Bethany’s eyes burned as she asked the question that would change everything: “So… what you gonna do, Larry?” And his silence answered louder than words ever could. 🔥 TO BE CONTINUED…
