Arrival
Bethany sits on the couch, holding a cold compress to her swollen face. The room is silent except for the faint ticking of the clock.
BETHANY: Not now… not today.
A distant car pulls into the driveway. She freezes, her heart racing.
BETHANY: (thinking) Who… could that be?
The Knock
A firm knock echoes at the door. Bethany hesitates, gripping the couch armrest.
BETHANY: (softly) It can’t be…
She slowly rises and peers through the peephole. GREG stands outside, tense, his eyes stormy.
GREG: Bethany… we need to talk.
Confrontation
Bethany opens the door, stepping back nervously. Her hands tremble.
BETHANY: Fine… come in. But I swear…
GREG: I don’t need your swearing. I just need the truth.
Bethany presses the compress harder against her cheek, swallowing back a sob.
BETHANY: It… it’s nothing. I’m okay. Really.
GREG: Don’t lie to me. I can see it. Your face…
Truth Unfolds
Greg kneels slightly, trying to meet her eyes. His voice softens, pleading.
GREG: Bethany, you don’t have to face this alone. Not anymore.
BETHANY: (thinking) How does he always find out?
Bethany exhales shakily, overwhelmed by the tension, confusion, and relief all at once.
Tension Peaks
The sun casts long shadows across the driveway as silence fills the room. Both sit, absorbing the gravity of the situation.
BETHANY: (whispering) Who told him…?
GREG: It doesn’t matter who. What matters is… you’re not alone anymore.

Bethany slowly lets Greg take her hand. A slight weight lifts from the room, but the fear of betrayal lingers.

The camera pulls back, leaving them in the warm glow of the room, the quiet ticking of the clock resuming.
