The Call
The room is quiet. Destiny stands near the window, holding her phone tightly. Her face is tense, eyes filled with urgency.
DESTINY: Brooke… I wouldn’t call you if this wasn’t serious.
BROOKE (ON PHONE): You sound nervous. What’s wrong?
DESTINY: It’s about Sharra. And what I’m about to say… you might not be ready for it.
BROOKE: Just say it, Destiny.
Destiny closes her eyes, then speaks.
DESTINY: Sharra has a boyfriend. And she’s been secretly dating him for a long time.
BROOKE: What? No… that can’t be true.
DESTINY: I wish it wasn’t. But I’ve seen them together. She lied to everyone.
Overheard
Behind the hallway wall, Bethany freezes. She has just walked in—and overheard every word. Her heart pounds.
BETHANY (WHISPERING TO HERSELF): A boyfriend…? Sharra…?
Bethany’s breathing becomes heavy as Destiny’s voice continues through the phone.
DESTINY: Brooke, you deserved to know. I couldn’t stay quiet anymore.
Bethany slowly steps back, her heart pounding.
BETHANY (INNER VOICE): Larry has to know. He deserves the truth.
Deciding to Act
Bethany walks fast outside, pulling out her phone. She doesn’t call—this is something that must be said face to face.
Confronting Larry
Larry sits on the couch, scrolling through his phone. The door opens suddenly. Bethany walks in, pale and shaken.
LARRY: Bethany? What’s wrong?
BETHANY: Larry… we need to talk. Right now.
Larry senses the seriousness in her voice and puts his phone down.
LARRY: You’re scaring me. What happened?
BETHANY: I just overheard Destiny talking to Brooke. It was about Sharra.
LARRY: Sharra? What about her?
BETHANY: She has a boyfriend, Larry. She’s been secretly dating him.
The Truth Hits
The words hang in the air. Larry stands, face losing color.
LARRY: No… That’s not true.
BETHANY: I heard it myself. Destiny said she’s been lying to everyone.
Larry runs a hand through his hair, pacing.
LARRY: Why would she do this? Why lie?
BETHANY: Because the truth would ruin her image. And maybe… ruin you.
Larry stops pacing. His eyes are filled with shock and betrayal.
LARRY: I trusted her.
BETHANY: I know. And that’s why I couldn’t keep this from you.
Aftermath
Larry sits back down, staring at the floor, silent. The weight of the truth hangs heavy.
LARRY: Everything makes sense now…
BETHANY: What do you mean?
LARRY: The excuses. The distance. The secrets.
He clenches his fists.
LARRY: I feel like an idiot.
BETHANY: You’re not. She’s the one who lied.
A long silence fills the room.
LARRY: If this is true… nothing will ever be the same again.
BETHANY: The truth always comes out, Larry. No matter how hard someone tries to hide it.
Larry lifts his head, eyes burning with emotion.
LARRY: Then it’s time she answers for it.
