Brooke Confesses Isaiah’s Marriage Proposal to Destiny — But Bethany Overhears Everything in the Shadows
INT. LIVING ROOM – NIGHT
A soft lamp glows in the corner. The house is unusually quiet. Outside, faint crickets hum in the dark.
Brooke Comes Home
BROOKE steps inside. Her face is thoughtful, distracted. She leans against the door and takes a deep breath.
DESTINY
You look like you just saw a ghost.
BROOKE
I kinda feel like I did.
The Confession
BROOKE
Isaiah asked me something today.
DESTINY
What kind of something?
BROOKE
Marriage.
Silence fills the room.
BROOKE
He said if waiting is the only thing stopping us from moving forward, then maybe we should just get married one day. He wasn’t joking.
DESTINY
And what did you say?
BROOKE
I told him no.
Brooke’s Confusion
BROOKE
I do care about him. But marriage right now? We’re still figuring out who we are.
DESTINY
So why do you look so torn?
BROOKE
What if he meant it? What if I pushed him away?
DESTINY
Or maybe he panicked because he’s not used to hearing “wait.”
An Unseen Listener
Down the hallway — partially hidden — BETHANY stands still. Listening.
BETHANY
(whispering)
Marriage?
Her expression shifts from surprise… to calculation.
Advice and Doubt
BROOKE
I just need time. I need to know I’m choosing something because I’m ready… not because I’m scared of losing someone.
DESTINY
That’s the smartest thing you’ve said all week.
They share a small laugh — tension briefly softens.
The Shift in the Air
A floorboard creaks. Both girls turn. Silence.
In the hallway, Bethany steps back into the shadows.
BETHANY
(under her breath)
So that’s what’s going on.
FADE OUT
Brooke stares at Isaiah’s name on her phone. She types: “We need to talk. Calmly.” She hits send.
Upstairs, Bethany sits on her bed — already planning.
Four people. Four different thoughts. One conversation overheard. One storm forming.
