THE PHONE CALL
Brooke paces in her bedroom, eyes burning, phone clutched tightly.
BROOKE: I can’t believe she just said that…
Her hand shakes as she presses CALL.
SHARRA: Brooke? It’s late. What happened?
BROOKE: You won’t believe it… Bethany called me a hoe. In front of Larry.
SHOCK & ANGER
Sharra’s face tightens, pacing now. Brooke stops mid-step, staring at her reflection.
SHARRA: In front of Larry? Are you serious?
BROOKE: I’m not lying. She looked at me like I was nothing.
Brooke’s shoulders tighten. She wipes a tear angrily.
SHARRA: That’s completely disrespectful.
FLASHBACK – THE INSULT
Earlier that evening, Larry stands between Brooke and Bethany. Tension thick in the room.
BETHANY: Maybe if you acted with some dignity, people wouldn’t call you what you are.
BROOKE: What’s that supposed to mean?
BETHANY: It means you’re a hoe, Brooke.
The word lands like a slap. Larry freezes. Brooke’s face burns with humiliation.
BACK TO PRESENT
BROOKE: He just stood there… He didn’t defend me.
SHARRA: He didn’t say anything?
BROOKE: He tried, but didn’t stop her. Didn’t say she was wrong.
Brooke’s jaw tightens. She sits, frustrated and humiliated.
PLANS & DECISIONS
BROOKE: I won’t stay silent. If he doesn’t stand for me… I’ll know the truth.
SHARRA: This is bigger than an insult, Brooke.
BROOKE: I know. It’s about respect. And today, I lost mine.
Brooke’s eyes shift from hurt to determination. She stands, ready to act.
CONSEQUENCES
Larry picks up his phone, hesitates, then dials Brooke. It rings. She lets it go to voicemail.
BROOKE: Not tonight. He needs to decide whose side he’s on.
She sits by the window, city lights flickering in the distance, her face cold and resolved.
An insult spoken in anger… but the consequences may last forever.
