A Tense Conversation
INT. LARRY & LYNETTE’S LIVING ROOM – NIGHT. A dim lamp casts long shadows across the walls. The house is quiet, but the silence feels heavy — like it’s holding onto the echoes of past arguments.
Lynette stands near the dining table, fingers nervously tracing its edge. Larry sits on the couch, scrolling on his phone, though his mind is clearly elsewhere.
LYNETTE: (soft, hesitant) "Larry… I’ve been thinking."
The Tension Builds
Larry doesn’t look up.
LARRY: "Hmm."
LYNETTE: "I’m going to apologize to Bethany."
Larry’s thumb stops mid-scroll. Slowly… he lifts his head.
LARRY: (flat) "No, you’re not."
Lynette frowns, confused by his immediate refusal.
An Unexpected Stand
LYNETTE: "What do you mean “no”? I’m trying to end this drama."
LARRY: "You don’t end drama by apologizing to the person who started it."
LYNETTE: "I’m not saying she’s right. I just want peace in this family again."
The Break in Communication
Larry leans forward, elbows on knees.
LARRY: "Peace?"
(beat)
LARRY: "Since Bethany came back into our lives, this family hasn’t had a single peaceful moment."
Lynette crosses her arms defensively.
LYNETTE: "You’re blaming everything on her."
A Defining Moment
LARRY: "Because most of it IS her fault."
A tense silence fills the room.
LYNETTE: "I’m the elder. If I apologize, maybe things will calm down."
Larry stands up abruptly.
LARRY: "No, Lynette. You will NOT apologize."
The Truth Comes Out
She looks at him, startled by his firmness.
LYNETTE: "And why not?"
Larry steps closer, voice controlled but burning underneath.
LARRY: "Because our family has been disturbed enough — and it’s because of her."
Lynette looks away, conflicted.
LYNETTE: "Families fight. It happens."
LARRY: "Not like this."
He pauses… then his tone shifts — more personal, more protective.
LARRY (CONT’D): "She crossed a line she had no business crossing."
