Larry Confronts Purnell

One careless joke, one crossed line, and Larry had to stand up for Bethany.

The Offense

Purnell smirks across the room, clearly mocking Bethany's face. The tension is thick. Larry notices immediately.

PURNELL: (grinning) Look at that face… I can’t stop laughing!

Bethany feels a mix of embarrassment and anger. Larry clenches his fists, stepping closer to Purnell.

LARRY: How dare you make fun of her face!

PURNELL: Hey, hey! Calm down, man!

Larry’s eyes burn with fury. Bethany reaches out, trying to stop him, but he doesn’t release his grip.

Larry shakes Purnell slightly, his voice low and threatening.

LARRY: You think that’s funny? Making fun of her like that?

Purnell swallows hard, realizing the joke has gone too far. Bethany grabs Larry’s hand, gently pulling it away from Purnell’s collar.

BETHANY: Larry, stop! It’s okay!

Larry exhales sharply, loosening his grip but keeping his eyes locked on Purnell.

LARRY: You don’t joke about someone’s face. That’s not a game.

Purnell nods, humbled and ashamed. Bethany stands tall between them, acting as the voice of reason.

BETHANY: Enough. Both of you need to calm down.

PURNELL: I’m sorry, I didn’t think it would upset anyone.

Larry finally releases Purnell. Both men step back, breathing heavy. The tension slowly dissipates.

LARRY: Respect isn’t optional. Remember that.

PURNELL: I understand. It won’t happen again.

Bethany places a reassuring hand on Larry’s arm, giving him a small smile. The storm has passed, but the lesson lingers in the air.

Larry looks at Bethany, seeing the mixture of pride and relief on her face. Purnell stands silently, reflecting on his words and actions.

BETHANY: You handled it well. Anger doesn’t always solve things, but standing up for yourself matters.

LARRY: I just couldn’t let him humiliate you. Not again.
