The Breaking News
Larry stands by the doorway, coat unbuttoned, while Bethany clutches the sofa, trembling.
LARRY: I can’t do this anymore, Bethany… I never became the father I promised Sharra I would be. Her house… it’s gone. And now… I have to go to Brooke. She needs me.
BETHANY: (shocked, placing her hand over her mouth 🤯) Larry… you can’t just leave like that. Not now. Not while Sharra’s house… not while I’m still standing here.
The Argument Escalates
LARRY: (turning toward her, face tense 😠) Bethany, this isn’t about you. I’m doing what I have to do. Sharra’s house… it’s the past. Brooke… she’s my future.
BETHANY: (stepping closer, grabbing his arm ✋) No! You’re not leaving me here alone, Larry. I won’t let you go. Not without me.
LARRY: (struggling, frustrated 😡) Bethany… I have to. I can’t… I can’t let anything stop me now.
BETHANY: (firm, voice trembling 😢) Then you’ll leave me behind… alone… after everything? Do you even hear yourself?
The Divorce Threat
LARRY: (raising his voice, pointing toward the door 🚪) Bethany, if you don’t let me go… if you try to stop me… I swear… I’ll give you a divorce.
BETHANY: (eyes widen in disbelief 😳) A… divorce? You’re threatening… me… with divorce?
LARRY: (flat, almost whispering) I’m not threatening, Bethany. I’m… I’m telling the truth. You’ve tried to stop me before… now I have to make it clear. Either I go… or we end.
The Emotional Battle
BETHANY: (shaking her head, voice rising 😡) No! You’re not leaving me like this. Not today. Not ever. You think you can just walk out of here, chase Brooke, and I’ll stand quietly? I won’t. I can’t.
LARRY: (angrily 😤) Bethany… if you keep trying to control me, I won’t hesitate. I’ve stayed too long in guilt, in promises I couldn’t keep. I have to do this—for me, for Brooke… for Sharra’s memory.
BETHANY: (tears forming 😢, stepping closer) And what about us, Larry? What about the promises we made to each other? What about standing together when life tries to break us? Or does that mean nothing?
Regret & Heartbreak
LARRY: (quietly, almost regretfully 😔) Bethany… I… I wish things were different. I wish I could be the man I promised you and Sharra I’d be. But… some things are beyond fixing now.
BETHANY: (firmly, whispering 😤💔) Then… don’t expect me to just let you go. Not without a fight. Not without… everything on the line.
The Suspense
The living room seems smaller now, walls closing in as though the house itself holds its breath. Larry’s eyes meet Bethany’s, and for a moment, silence speaks louder than any words.
To be continued… 🕰️💔
