At Destiny’s 16th birthday party, Larry invites Lynette, but when she arrives, Bethany calls the police and gets her arrested.
THE INVITATION
Golden fairy lights glow across the backyard. Balloons sway. Music fills the warm evening air.
LARRY: It’s just a party. No drama tonight.
Bethany watches him carefully, her eyes sharp.
BETHANY: You really invited her?
LARRY: Destiny deserves everyone she loves here.
Headlights flash at the gate.
---LYNETTE ARRIVES
The gate opens. Lynette steps inside, calm and composed. Whispers spread across the guests.
GUEST: I thought she wasn’t coming.
LARRY: You made it.
LYNETTE: You invited me.
Destiny hesitates before walking toward her.
DESTINY: Happy you’re here.
---THE SECRET CALL
While everyone gathers near the cake, Bethany slips away into the shadows and pulls out her phone.
BETHANY (whispering): Yes, I need to report someone. She’s here right now.
In the distance, faint sirens begin to echo.
---CANDLES & SIRENS
Destiny closes her eyes and blows out the candles. Cheers rise — then suddenly fade as police lights flash outside.
OFFICER: We’re looking for Lynette.
DESTINY: What’s happening?
LARRY: There must be a mistake.
BETHANY: There’s no mistake.
---THE ARREST
Handcuffs click around Lynette’s wrists. Gasps fill the yard.
DESTINY: Please don’t take her!
LYNETTE: Be strong. This isn’t your fault.
The patrol car door slams shut. Sirens scream into the night.
---AFTERMATH
Half-cut cake melts under the lights. Guests quietly leave. The banner hangs crooked in the wind.
LARRY: You ruined her birthday.
BETHANY: I protected her future.
Destiny runs inside, tears falling.
Bethany’s phone vibrates. A message from an unknown number appears.
“You shouldn’t have done that.”
Somewhere across the street… a car engine starts.
